Magazine Ad 2

2. Kings Of Leon - Only By The Night

This advert has much less text and relies heavily on the album art presented at the top of the page to catch the magazine reader's attention. There is a clear high use of photoshop - the four members of the band are edited together with an image of an eagle. The image is also in a night vision style manor to fit the title of the album. With the artist being an alternative/indie rock band this ad very most likely appeared in a rock music magazine such as NME or Kerrang where the reader may already know about the group so not much information is needed.

Following the military style night vision filter seen on the album art, the title font for both the album and the artist name has under-scores ( _ ) typically seen in war movies. The colour scheme to the font is very standard white, blue, green and red. The capitalisation of the letters grabs the reader's attention and by putting "OUT NOW" in red suggests urgency as if to say 'You have to buy this album'.

By stating some of the stand out featured tracks the target audience is addressed and listeners of the tracks are specifically targeted. The Play.com logo at the bottom left hand side of the advertisement is not only giving the reader a way to listen to the new album but also advertises the music service itself.
